I'd Rather Be Knitting

On Saturday, I went for a full body massage for the first time ever, using an ancient unredeemed gift certificate. From what I had heard from people, seen portrayed on TV and in movies, I was expecting to leave there in a state of puddleness. Not so. I couldn't turn my brain off during the massage. While I enjoyed the quiet room and soft music, I found myself thinking of the laundry, home improvement projects that will never get done, and a myriad of other things I shouldn't have been wasting thought on. Oddly enough, my friend felt the same way. We both said that one of the only things we do that allows our mind to be free of thought is knitting.

I awoke the next morning with a very stiff neck, blaming the massage. My friend also had a sore spot on her shoulders. Coincidence? Maybe. We also both came down with a cold the day after the massage.

Won't be doing that again. I'm just not into the whole pampering lifestyle. I'd rather be knitting for relaxation any day. During my illness I have recently picked up an incomplete pair of Colinette Jitterbug socks (yarn that I won from a contest SJ had a while ago) and am working on that in between moments of twin feeding and diaper duty.
